Spain 1 - Germany 0

I cannot tell you how happy I am to have witnessed one of the best games of this tournament. Not a single yellow card, no nasty crap from any of the players - just good, clean, beautiful football (Brazil, please note). Spain were in 5th gear from the get go and the Germans tried their best to park their bus but Puyol came through.

Spain were in their element and my Man of the match? For me it was Iniesta, Xavi, Alonso, Pedro, Ramos ... that magic midfield that dictated most of tonight's game.

I have immense respect and admiration for this German team. To see Lahm and Schweinsteiger at the end was heartbreaking. Germany, I will never forget the way you dismantled Argentina and England (who we also know as the Three Lions Kittens). I think I read a couple of status updates somewhere on Facebook where they swore to name their first born a "Podolski" or "Schweinsteiger" lol

Torres should have got that second goal. Holland, please commence messing your pants (if you haven't done so already).

It is 4:45 AM and I have lost my voice - we have VIPs visiting the office today, shit.

Vuvuzela hero

In reference to this post sometime back, I was sent this video.

I would hi-score the crap out of this game.

This video shows how I feel today.

Podolski vs. Villa
Ozil vs. Ramos
Klose vs Torres
Schweinsteiger vs. Xavi
Casillas vs Neuer
Puyol vs Lahm

...

I'm glad that Spain, Germany, Holland and Uruguay have reached the final 4. From what I've seen, these four have a sense of humility and no one really focuses on one star player alone. Some other teams turned into a bunch of whiney losers screaming and wailing when they got schooled by their opponents (eg: Brazil's Robinho and Melo / Portugal's Ronaldo / Argentina's Tevez / every single Italian player).

Anyhow, I'm hoping for a cracker of a match tonight and may the best team win.

... by "best team", I mean Spain.

Paul the octopus

I wasn't paying a lot of attention to this story and I'm not sure how many of you have heard about it but there is a psychic octopus in Germany (called Paul) who predicts the winners of world cup matches. The octopus predicts the outcome of a match by choosing between two boxes, each containing a snack and decorated with a World Cup country's flag. As of now, it has predicted the outcome of every single German game, including the loss to Serbia.

Yesterday it picked Spain to win.

Dear Paul, tell me something I didn't know already. ESPANA SIEMPRE!
